Lake Superior’s level is very low right now. Porter’s Island is accessible by foot at this time. There are few places where you have to rock hop but it is do-able. The lake does experience sache, an effect like the tide. The level can change quite a bit in just a few minutes. One notices this especially when looking for rocks to step on!

Lake Superior – Clean & Blue
Lake Superior often gets wild and sprays the shoreline. When conditions are just so, icicles can form along the shore flora and conglomerate.
A snowshoe out to Hunter’s Point always proves to be worth every step. Ever changing in the winter months due to Lake Superior waves crashing onto shore and the snow piling up all around.
The Snowshoe and X-C Ski Trails have been groomed and tracked and in excellent condition. These are beautiful trails and there is a fresh layer of snow almost every day.
