Inhale…Her essence borne on the wind…Crisp…Pure…Her rhythmic pulse…flow forward…surge back…Her Voice…soothing…a whisper with no words…exhale…Her spirit lingers…For once inside, you are never alone…She’s a friend…a lover…a jealous mistress…She’s a source of power and wisdom…a benevolent soul…Superior has no equal…and life is defined by Her shadow…for those who live in the Land North of Nowhere… — in Copper Harbor, Michigan. ~ 2 Guys Photography
TBT ~ Bird’s Eye View of Copper Harbor [Lithograph drawing from Charles T. Jackson’s Report of 1849]
This is really interesting. It shows Hunter’s Point and Porter’s Island with Brockway’s nose at right and Lake Fanny Hooe in the back.
This post card features the second Isle Royale Queen. This was the the first ship the Kilpela family purchased to take passengers to Isle Royale National Park. The boat was yellow when purchased due to the wrong color being used by the seller. It ran a season before being painted white. There are not many photos of the yellow version out there.
The Kilpela’s continue to serve passengers today on the Isle Royale Queen IV.
