Location: Keweenaw Shores Nature Sanctuary
Hikers with a love for wildflowers are sure to be delighted by the diversity and abundance of botanical beauties at their blooming peak. This sanctuary is a favorite locale of local wildflower enthusiasts and features several orchids among other boreal blooming plants. Join steward and naturalist Karena Schmidt on this discovery walk as she shares stories of plants and lichens along the way.
Follow M-26 (Lakeshore Drive) east from Eagle Harbor about six miles and west from Copper Harbor about 9 miles to Esrey Park. Look for the large MNA Event sign in Esrey Park. We’ll meet there and then walk together to the trailhead across the highway.
The shop is now open! It’s still migration season and there are many birds arriving in Copper Harbor. Have a question, need help with and ID, stop by the shop.
